The Pig Bar-B-Q

by Alanna_Salussolia August 29, 2017 No Comments

Let’s talk about some savory grilling out smells, ribs dripping with sauce and all those reliable bar-b-que sides that make a platter excellent.

I visited The Pig Bar-B-Q today for a work lunch. This location has a large seating area (especially for restaurants on Old St. Augustine Road). The open floor was ideal for spreading out and sharing some grub with the team. I love the menu here because there are so many awesome items to choose from and the lunch specials are dirt cheap. They’re practically paying you to have too many carbs.

Cheesy MacNCheese and More Team Lunches

My first visit here I had a small burger, mac and cheese and a baked potato. The burger wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was cheap, had all the fixin’s and came with tasty sides. Plus with that visit our server was friendly and the food came out speedily.

it was cheap, had all the fixin’s and came with tasty sides.

Today’s visit was a little slower, but that is typical for lunch rushes and there were eight of us after all. We were celebrating our new team member! Our server kept track of everyone’s orders and divided up the bills accordingly. It may have taken a few minutes to get the bill together, but there were no issues with mixing up people’s items. I did notice an extra charge on my credit card, so I may have to call to confirm they canceled that mistake. Not sure why they didn’t let me know about the minor error. But, aside from the housekeeping, let’s get to the food.

Now some people might be turned off by the cheap prices of this place and think, you get what you pay for. They might want their sides a little bigger or their burgers juicier, but ya know what, I’ll be coming back for sure.

Giant Ribs and Super Sauce Fun

At our lunch here, we shared an appetizer that I don’t know the name of but it was like hush puppies with corn. It was delicately fried, and there were inviting and interesting sauces on the table to dip these in.

I ordered the 2 Rib Lunch platter. The ribs were huge, succulent and perfectly cooked. With salty flavors and tender meat that nearly fell off the bone, I was in hog heaven – perfect for this venue. I dipped the rib in all their sauces – hot, sweet, sorta mustardy. My bowl of mac and cheese had that home-made, Thanksgiving taste and my green beans weren’t too salty, dry or any of those other issues some places run into.

It was a tasty meal and I look forward to exploring more of the menu.
