My friend and I checked out a sip and swap in Riverside one Sunday. You can learn more about that in another post. Suffice to say, we worked up an appetite and we needed a dog-friendly food place nearby.
Megan knew just the place.
Near San Marco, there is a zippy Mexican place with killer queso and an upbeat vibe. If you are looking for a new place for Taco Tuesday with vibrant colors and a dash of spice, check out Lola’s. Sure, like TacoLu, the sugar skull theme is taking over, but I feel like it’s much more successful here. Mostly the queso, yuca fries and chorizo convinced me that this place is a trip.
Also, there’s a server named Alanna, so how could they go wrong?
We chose the outside seating and enjoyed seeing the overcast weather rumble over the evening with getting any of the drizzle on us. Alanna kept us around for a while by telling us about the $2 cinnamon apple pie cider drink. It was a potent and slightly tart flavor I can handle for about one drink. The contrast piqued my curiosity a bit longer as it cut down some of the heat of our tasty chorizo appetizer.
The place serves burgers, and it’s hard to meet a burger you don’t like, so I respect that choice. I have yet to try them.
We really only got to try fries, the queso covered yuka and choriza appetizer and drinks, but it was all good and the giant burritos looked super tasty. Diners seemed happy and our server was super friendly, even telling us about other places we should explore in the area.
I’ll be back Lola,
And thanks Megan for the recommendation.
