Sundays can be soothing.
Some semi-secular musings.
Here are some freshly brewed thoughts on what this day means to different people.
Sunday’s are the last day of the week, or the first. Depending on how you look at things. It can be a religious holiday, a sports celebration, vacation time, family day, and time to leisurely enjoy going out to eat, shopping, resting.
Americans use their special Sunday times in many different ways. It can be a sacred day for many of us.
Sunday fun day can be a day without work or school to just breath, catch up, rest, and – depending on your faith background – worship.
Sometimes worship happens in quiet time. It’s a morning at the beach. It’s an afternoon of napping. It’s meeting to eat with your best friends and family.
Church can facilitate worship and provide community. Some people worship best in church. Some people go to mass, temple, a mosque or other service in a spiritual building place.
Some people worship by getting space from distracting things. They find that solitude helps spiritually.
It can feel like there is a right way to Sunday.
Sometimes I simply close my eyes and pray for a moment. I might put on folk hymns to center my heart. I might spend time with my church family. I might stay home with my best friend and cuddle with the dogs.
I am grateful for Sundays. There is often a soothing element to this day.
On Sundays, I get to sing.
