- Visit her on the first Saturday of the month at the Riverside Arts Market (RAM), 715 Riverside, Jacksonville
Last Monday, I met up with Julie C. Fetzer to learn about her journey as a professional artist. We met at Urban Bean, Orange Park’s delightful coffee house and cafe. We sipped coffee, and she shared a glimpse of how her career is developing.

How I came Across Julie’s Bridge Art
I first saw one of her prints in my friend Claire’s kitchen. I loved the bridges! They reminded me of New York City, San Francisco, and the many cities with architectural feats. I decided I wanted to own some of her art one day. Two years later and I bought one of her greeting cards on a Saturday morning.
One year later and I got the courage to talk to her at the Riverside Arts Market (RAM). My husband, who draws, had shown me how he engages with other artists and openly admired an illustrator’s line work. It was my turn to fangirl a little.

I told Julie how much I loved how she captured the 7 bridges buttressing Jacksonville, and could she share some of her story with me. I would discover we both had Southern California roots. But better than that was the discovery that her background was more STEM than arts and humanities. She studied Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning in school. She spent her first career in the corporate world, before applying her knowledge of topography to creative endeavours.
Art should be accessible for everyone one. With $20 prints, many people can get a print in their home.
-Julie C. Fetzer
Julie C. sets prices that are accessible for the average Jacksonvillian. She provides art to RAM visitors, but also sells her work online, has collectors that turn to her for her latest work and commissioned projects. She doesn’t just paint the river, she cares about the river. She works with the St. Johns Riverkeeper. Being active in the community is a part of the role she plays as a local artist.

More than Maps
She tells stories with geography, presenting views from a global perspective to granular portrayals with vibrant color details.
Her primary mediums are:
- Maps
- Illustrations
- Acrylic paintings
Her range of materials and subjects is quite large. While she started as a Landscape Architect, she has soared to new heights in developing her own perspective of the North Florida coastline and waterways. Today, she creates personalized art with custom frames, t-shirts, and products.

How much fun is this turtle painting? Makes me want to read children’s books!
It will be exciting to see how her artist’s journey will continue. She is extraordinarily talented and has a good heart. In her free time, She loves spending time with her daughter and taking care of her cats. She is also a Master Gardener (with the blooming backyard to prove it).
It was an honor meeting this hardworking woman who skillfully paints bridges, beaches, bees and more. She is an inspiration!
