Kinder Kafe

In a world where you pay a fee for most indoor toddler play areas, Kinder Kafe offers a different experience.

Sometimes independent coffee shops look super cool, have very inflated drink prices and a snobby staff. This is not like that either.

Cozy Drinks & Family Fun

At Kinder Kafe, you don't have to commit to a certain amount of time or pay for entrance. The play area is free and the atmosphere, inviting.

I recently had the cortado (two shots of espresso and a splash of steamed milk). I had it with their homemade pumpkin syrup. Very yummy. I usually just get plain coffee or water, and my husband gets the iced coffee. Juice boxes are available.

They keep adding to their pastry case with more baked goods, including croissants, cookies, and cake pops. They have bagels, avocado toast, salads, and an assortment of breakfast items, and kids' lunch options. Lucy and I have split the pumpkin muffin and the cinnamon roll. They are equally scrumptious.

Stay a While

The baristas who work here are nice and patient. They don't get frustrated with kids needing extra napkins, leaving crumbs behind, or messing up all the toys.

The cafe has an open play area in the back where kids can explore fun toys, look at books, and make new friends.

Outside, there a large, covered patio area. Inside, there are small tables, a cozy couch, and a large table, where I recently saw a gaggle of teens playing Rummikub.

Everything Zen

One of my favorite things about this place is the relaxing music they play. I've heard Bon Iver and lo-fi coffee house mixes that bring a calm to a chaotic afternoon of parenting. The vibe is come stay awhile and why would you want to play at home when you could have the comfort at home out in the wild?

You can lounge on the pillows while engaging with your kiddo. There's fun fuzzy pillows shaped like flowers, butterflies, and sometimes even dinosaurs. Children can explore legos, pretend food stations, cars, and a mini hair salon.

Pro Tip:

There was a strict wear socks in the play area policy, so we make sure to have those for the adults as well. I often sneak in my knitting.
