Dick’s in San Pablo is a solid place to enjoy wings, beer and a good ol’ night of trivia. Excellent service even when the place is full to the brim. Fun menu options including waffle fries and oozing, cheesy quesadillas. Very cheery trivia crowd, lots of seating and fairly family friendly. Decent prices. Trivia night can quickly get to full capacity, standing room only level. The bar goers seems to be a mix of beachy people and maybe Navy vets? Not really sure, but I know I was on the younger end of the demographic. The biggest question is: do they have the best wings in town?
One of my coworkers who is ACTUALLY FROM BUFFALO area told me I had to go to Dick’s Wings. Not just any location in this chain. Not the Southside one, but the San Pablo one on Beach. She said “they make the perfect crispy wings.” So after months of trying to schedule a wings and trivia night (kinda tough between bible study and my other trivia team), we finally made it to the sportsbar. There was a lot riding on this venture. And bonus, a Steelers pre-season game was on one of their million TVs.
How I Really Feel About Wing Sauce

Ok, here is the real scoop on my experience eating these wings. Dick’s has tons of flavor options. You can get real crazy and try the super amazing mango habanero wings. There’s a solid range of heat levels so you can really torture yourself on the Scoville scale if you want to. You’ve got options.
The wings are cooked well (extra crispy if you want). An average amount of chicken. An average amount of sauce (I love mine extra goopy – so I always prefer they go overboard and often order a side of sauce ahead of time). The wings come with some good ranch or blue cheese and fresh celery (not the limp sad kind the cheap places provide).
But if you are like me and have a very particular preference about your classic buffalo sauce, this place doesn’t quite fit the bill. Their sauce is a bit vinegary. Sure, it’s potent. But I like it to be complex and slightly sweet.
On the other hand, they have a full bar and all the TVs to keep up with your fave sports, so really having a bad time here would be tough. I say, enjoy the wings, head on over and split a pitcher. If you’re looking to explore wings places and maybe jump into a night of Trivia Nation fun, maybe you should head to Dick’s Wings & Grill.
For the record, don’t assume these pictures suggest we won trivia. We took a pic with the fancy trophy so you know what holding the prize in your hand is like. We may have been playing by golf rules and claimed the lowest par.
